FAITH AFTER A STROKE ?
HOW HARD IS IT TO KEEP YOUR
FAITH AFTER STROKE ? ? ?
Keeping your faith after a stroke can be a tough thing. However,
keeping your faith in "today's" world . . . is a tough thing, whether
it's after a stroke or not! Though I'm not the one that had the stroke,
I'm the mother of the son that had it. The only thing that keeps me
moving forward after his stroke is my faith in God . . . and the son of
God . . . Jesus! My belief that he is at our side helping us. Guiding us.
Faith after stroke is challenging! Sometimes, it's a minute by minute
challenge . . . always a day-by-day. Staying positive takes a lot of faith,
but, it's the faith in God . . . the faith in Jesus that keeps me moving
forward after a stroke. It's having an honest, sincere, constant
relationship and knowing he's there at my side 24/7. To be able to
talk with him at anytime . . . anywhere. Knowing that he's with us.
Having faith after stroke helps me get through the daily challenges.
Why is it so hard believing in God . . . believing in Jesus? There are
many reasons for this. I could write a book on it. Here . . . I'm
speaking of a stroke survivor and their loved ones. A younger
person. A person that . . . this was not suppose to happen to! It's
suppose to happen to old people . . . the elderly! It should've
happened to me instead! A young stroke survivor that has
numerous disabilites, and was told there was nothing more that
could be done. A young stroke survivor that's having a hard time
keeping faith in God, because he's so angry at him. It's easier
to blame God for what's happened. It's normal to be angry after
stroke. You've lost a lot . . . some more than others. BUT!!! We can't
blame God for this. It's a time when it's hard believing in God. Yes!
It's a time that can be hard asking Jesus into your life. Yes!
However, it's also the time that you need to do this!
How devastating it must be . . . one minute to be walking, talking,
driving, and working. The next instant on the ground with the brain
cells dying second by second, paralyzed . . . unable to move . . . yet,
aware. Lying there and not being found for several hours. By the
time you reach the hospital, you're in a coma and on life support.
You awaken (God willing) from the coma to find out that you are
unable to move your body and unable to speak a word due to a
stroke you've had. However, you can understand every word being
said. How overwhelming this must be . . . to be locked-in . . . as
they call it! What a destructive mechanism within itself. As hard as
it may be, this is the time you really need your faith! You need your
belief in God!. You need to ask Jesus to come into your life. Don't
blame him for it. Invite him in!

When bad things happen, people tend to blame it on God! He is not
suppose to let bad things happen. However, he never promised that
bad things would not happen. His promise is to help you through the
bad times. To be at your side through them. All you have to do is
ask him to be there . . . and he will.
Will he test you? Absolutely . . . over and over. He wants to know
you are true to him . . . you trust him . . . you want to be a part of
him . . . you love him. This is done through Jesus Christ, his son.
People make their own decisions while living their lives. It's human
nature to want to do things your own way. People don't stop to
think about what the consequences might be. Nobody is perfect!
Everyone makes mistakes . . . everyone commits sin! Again, it's
human nature. When bad things happen, it's much easier to blame
God for it. Instead, what you should do is . . . talk with God . . . ask
him to guide you . . . ask Jesus to be part of you. He's already there
just waiting for you to ask him in. And, if you are angry enough to
blame God for the bad that's happened, a positive take on it . . . you
already believe in him!
Are you angry at God? Do you have questions about the bible? Do
you need a friend? Are you confused? Do you want help? Don't
hesitate! Contact Pastor Cliff! Give him the opportunity to help you!
