LETS  GET  TOGETHER  .  .  .

Stroke support groups come in all sizes.  You actually only

need two people and your group is started.  Besides a "general"
group that anybody can join, maybe you would like to join or
start a "special stroke support group such as a men's stroke
survival support group, a women's stroke

survival support
group, or maybe an age related group.  There are groups out
there for family caregivers, also.  Let's stroke forward with
stroke support groups.  How about
aphasia speech support?

There seems to be a lot of support groups out there for "brain"
injured
survivors and some of them . . . will include the stroke
survivor . . . within their brain injury meetings. However, this
section is going to be dedicated to "stroke" survivor support
groups, specifically.  There is a difference!  Brain injured
survivors have had some sort of "exterior" accident to the brain,
where it has been hit or bumped on the outside of the head,
like maybe in a car accident.  Stroke victims have had an inward
damage to the brain.

I'm going to start a "list" of stroke support groups that are already
in progress . . . list them by state . . . then by city and address.
I'll include a contact name and phone number, so anybody will be
able to make contact.  If any of you are in a stroke support group
now, or have been in the past, please e-mail me the information,
so that I may include it within the list.  I thank you here and now
for your help. It is greatly appreciated!

Maybe there is no support group in your area.  Have you ever
thought of starting one? All you need is one other person that
wants to attend and you go from there.  Build on that.  Put flyers
up!  Talk to the therapists, the doctors, go to the hospitals,
approach the drug pharmacists, and go to the supply stores for
the disabled.  Just get the word out there.  You'll be surprised
at what might happen!  Don't give up...keep stroking forward.
Stroke after that better quality of life!  Check out "How to Start
A Support Group" ... http://www.ehow.com/list_6182785_
support-group-ideas.html

Please use the
support for any information you might like to have
added to the site or maybe you have a question.  Your personal
stories are more than welcomed, also.  I go through them and
have the final decision, whether they are published or not.  I
want to make sure they are suitable for the site.
